Katrina Edwards, associate professor of biological sciences and earth sciences in the USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, is part of an international team drilling for microbial life in the crust deep under the Atlantic ocean.

Her research focus encompasses geomicrobiology, microbial life at or below the sea floor, and the interaction of microbes and rocks.
